Growth Habits of Corn

Upright corn

Corn grows in an upright form, reaching anywhere from 4 to 12 feet (1.2-3.6m) tall, with ears of corn forming on the sides between the stalk and larger, grass-like leaves. At the top, flowering tassels produce pollen which then falls to the silky threads formed by the ears below.
